Dealing Charges

Hargreaves Lansdown offers some of the cheapest share dealing in the UK. Clients that qualify for frequent dealer charges will enjoy share dealing from £5.95 per trade.

To qualify for the frequent dealer charge of £5.95 you must place 20 or more trades in the previous month. Standard dealing charge is £11.95 but if you place 10-19 deals in the previous month you qualify for a frequent dealer charge of £8.95.

Like most UK execution-only Stockbrokers, Hargreaves Lansdown charges more for telephone dealing. To deal over the telephone, HL charges 1% with a minimum of £20 and maximum and of £50.

Dealing charges for IG ISAs and SIPPs are the same as standard share dealing accounts; £11.95 per deal which reduces to £5.95 or £8.95 for frequent dealers.


HL charges an annual fee ranging from 0.1% to 0.45% depending on the size of the account and whether funds or individual shares and bonds are held.

For Funds:

0.45% per year up to £250,000 of funds
0.25% on the value of funds £250,000 – £1m
0.1% on the value of funds £1m – £2m
No charge is levied on the value of funds over £2m

For Shares:

0.45% on all balance with a cap of £45.00


The same dealing charges apply to SIPPs as they do to standard accounts but Hargreaves Lansdown’s SIPP administration cost are among the cheapest available.

The cost to hold funds in a SIPP are the same as in an ISA above and holdings in shares or bonds are charged at 0.45% per year, capped at £200

Range of markets

Hargreaves Lansdown offers a broad range of UK, US, Canadian and European stocks. This isn’t their biggest attraction however as they are one of the UK’s largest fund supermarkets offering over 2,500 OEICs and Unit Trusts.

Fixed Income investors will find a comprehensive range of 700 gilts and corporate bonds which can be traded for £11.95 online or 1% over the phone.

Hargreaves Lansdown also offers CFDs and Spreadbets through a trading name of IG Markets.

Analysis Tools

If you are looking for advanced technical analysis tools, look elsewhere. However HL’s company fundamentals and news offering are second to none and you will struggle to find anything better without paying a fee.
